What "Extras" would you recommend on '06 ?

I'm in the fortunate position that I'm looking at purchasing a Company Bike - looking into which of the Yamaha / OE accesories to have fitted - whats the general feeling on the effectiveness of :

1 : "Knuckle Protectors" - extra large pieces of plastic that mount on mirrors ?
http://www.yamaha-motor.co.uk/accessories/accessories/acc_details.jsp?grpId=3583&productId=36276$2$FJR1300A&year=-1&pageNr=1&accessoryId=170617
How effective are they in keeping wind of hands - altering the airflow ?

2 : Foot Shield Set ?

3 : I currently use a Givi E52 on my VFR - looking to move onto FJR - will mainly ride without panniers - anyone comment on "pannier & Top-box Safety warning" thatYamaha make ?

4 : Tall Windscreen - I'm just under 6 foot -

5 : Rear Hugger - looking for Desert Metallic colur matched - Yamaha don't list one - anyone know of where to source alternative ?

6 : RAM Mount vs Yamaha Navigator mount kit ? - http://www.yamaha-motor.co.uk/accessories/accessories/acc_details.jsp?grpId=3726&productId=38588$2$FJR1300A&year=-1&pageNr=1&accessoryId=361131

7 : Yamaha "Roller Protectors" vs R&G

Currently use RAM mount through tank bolt on VFR - anyone know where this Yamaha kit fits in cockpit - no indication on Yamaha site.

Any other "Farkles" recommended - If I can get them fitted when purchasing bike - tax-man pays !

TIA

1 & 2: I believe they are both effective, but cannot say for sure.

3: Yamaha do this to avoid any possibility of claims against them, should the owner overload the bike. It is perfectly safe - thousands of owners can't be wrong.

4: Windscreen change is very subjective by each individal owner - but most agree that a taller one does help with buffeting. Yam made the standard one taller in 03 because so many owners changed it.

5. Hugger not made in the UK - we've seen one in Italy and another in the USA (I think it was) - but that was not very good and did not fit right.

6. Can't advise on either mount, I use a stemstand, but we have seen the Yam mount fitted and it works similar to the stemstand - which I like. Yams fit under each handlebar mounting point.

7. I didn't realise R&G make them for the 06, but others have fitted the Yam ones - any frame protector is always well advised. R&G are good of course.

You may as well get the factory heated grips - keep the pinkies warm....

Pannier bag liners - very handy.

Only OEM farkles?

FJRTech.com has a good guide to fitting the Suzuki V-Strom items to the bike.

Personally I think they are just trying to avoid litigation. The VFR handles both perfectly well and I've ridden my FJR with full luggage (full in both senses) and a VFR collector strapped to the back seat and noticed no perceptable effects

MRA Vario Screen

Save your money, the shock is already well protected

I usually swear by RAM but have recently bought the Yamaha part to use with my Garmin mount. I find this is more convenient in where it places the GPS. Chackout FJROwners.com and search for GPS
